M&S Store Refurbishment, Trafford Centre

M&S Store Refurbishment, Trafford Centre

Project Overview

  • Location: Trafford Centre, Manchester
  • Sector: Retail
  • System: Freestanding and Fire Rated hoarding systems
  • Length: 75 linear metres (across 3 sections)
  • Height: 2.4m and 4.8m
  • Environment: Prime retail space in shopping centre
  • Finish: Vinyl wrapped hoarding with branded graphics

Hoarding Warehouse supplied a combination of Freestanding and Fire Rated hoarding systems to screen M&S storefronts on both the upper and lower floors of the Trafford Centre in Manchester during a major refurbishment programme.

Situated at the Western end of the Trafford Centre, the store was within a busy live retail environment throughout the works. Bespoke branded graphics and integrated access points ensured the installation maintained both safety and presentation standards while refurbishment works progressed.

Specification & Build

Components

Our 2.4m high Freestanding PVC hoarding used was located on the top floor standing in front of the main hoarding and facing the two symmetrical escalators (see photograph below). The 25 linear metre hoarding featured a built-in double-leaf personnel door with aluminium surround to allow secure access to the trades and store employees.

4.8m high 2-hour Fire Rated hoardings were specified for both the ground and upper floors to fully screen the 25 linear metre store fronts from public view and to allow trade teams to make changes to the store frontages as well as the store interiors.

Fire rated hoarding was used during an M&S store refurbishment at the Trafford Centre

Both Freestanding and Fire Rated hoarding panels are reusable. All components of both systems are reusable offering a sustainable boost to temporary works.

Large Format Graphics

The Graphics team, led by Tony Stead, have many years’ experience of working with the M&S branding team and we prepared, printed and installed the distinctive M&S graphics which create a vibrant feel within the shopping centre during the works.

Secure access stores were installed to ensure authorised access was maintained.

Secure Access

Access was built into the hoarding with optimally located double-leaf personnel doors featuring robust digi-lock entry pads to ensure authorised access only through the project.

Result

Visually engaging bespoke branded hoardings highlighted the changes to the M&S store while establishing a safe, clean, compliant and secure worksite for the duration of the project.
